Dimensions Opened through the Intermediacy between Man and Objects: On the Philosophical Foundations of Design Studies

Abstract: Although design theory is still developing its system, the dimensions opened through the immediacy between man and objects can already provide us a horizon for looking at and analyzing design. The three dimensions besides the practical function include the aesthetics of objects, design ethics, and design politics. These four dimensions form the value system can be the normative foundations for examining contemporary design.
