摘要: 中国古代陶瓷,尤其是民用瓷、外销瓷上大量的叙事图,因其物质载体的材质、功能、生产、流通、消费等方面的特殊性,而与宫廷画、文人画、小说戏曲插图等其他载体上的图像有所不同,主要呈现出四个特点:日用品性与图像叙事的乐感文化特质、大众化商品性与图像叙事的模仿与创造并行、民间艺术性与图像叙事的野趣和“顶点”模式。又因其与文学作品关系密切,将其与文字文献、其他媒材上的图像进行互文性研究,既可以图证文补文,亦可管窥文学作品在民间的传播接受情况、中西叙事传统及文化差异等理论问题,在思想史和艺术史研究上都有一定的价值。

Abstract: The narrative paintings on ancient Chinese ceramics, especially that for civil use and export purpose, were distinct from palace paintings, literati paintings, and illustrations in novel and Chinese drama (xiqu) in four dimensions due to its material, function, production, circulation and consumption: 1) hybridity of daily necessity and the musical-cultural characteristics of image narrative, 2) hybridity of mass commodity, and the imitation and creation of image narrative, 3) folk character and vitality of image narrative, and 4) the “vertex” mode of narrative scenes. As image narrative is closely related to literature, an intertextually study with text documents and images on other media may not only complement textual research, but also cast insight into the spread and acceptance of the folk literature, as well as into the narrative traditions and cultural differences between China and the West.
